202 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS E nlisting in the U.S. Army in 1976, Francis “Frank” Anthony Meccia was a senior medical aidman in Spangdahlem, Germany, for four years before relocating to Washington, D.C. Upon returning to the U.S., he served as senior medical advisor in the headquarters of the 3rd U.S. Infantry “The Old Guard,” providing support to the President and The White House. Later, he was assigned to Fort Sheridan, Illinois, for three years as a medical recruiter for the U.S. Army, where he achieved the Recruiter Gold Badge with 3 Sapphires. Thereafter, he began studying toward his physician assistant degree at Cook County Hospital and began working as a physician assistant at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York, until 1991. Additionally, he served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1987 to 1996. Mr. Meccia served as a cardiovascular physician assistant for Murphy Otto & Associates from 1991 to 1998 and was a senior physician assistant for cardiovascular services at Resurrection Hospital in Chicago from 1998 to 2012. During this time, he worked as a staff physician assistant for Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center from 2001 to 2008. Since 2001, he has been a staff physician assistant for cardiovascular surgery at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, and since 2012, a registry staff member and first assistant for AMITA Health Medical Group Neurology in Chicago. Alongside his medical endeavors, Mr. Meccia hosts the show “Chicago Medical Review,” which reviews community-based hospitals throughout the city. He also hosts the show, “Chicago Theater Review” and is a co-host of the radio show, “Around the Town Chicago.” He attributes his success to his belief in always improving oneself. Maintaining affiliation with the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Heart Association, Mr. Meccia has accrued several accolades. The recipient of the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster in 1972 and the Meritorious Service Medal in 1982, he earned the coveted Expert Field Medical Badge and the U.S. Army Paratrooper Airborne Badge. In 1993, he was awarded the David Award for Allied Health Personnel from the Italian American National Society.
