Acquiring a professional food handler certification soon thereafter, he graduated from the University of Nevada Las Vegas with a Bachelor of Science in hotel/restaurant administration in 1996. In 1997, he served as a manager of the Hotel San Remo in Las Vegas before relocating to California.
