237 HOSPITALITY AND LEISURE SOMMELIER Elaia and Ollo Saint Louis, MO ALISHA BLACKWELL-CALVERT U pon turning 21 years old, Alisha Blackwell-Calvert began tasting various wines from different countries, subsequently discovering their unique tastes. Drawing upon her curiosity of the sciences, she sought to study why different regions’ grapes had their own eclectic flavor. Soon thereafter, she became a certified sommelier and certified wine specialist through the Court of Master Sommeliers and Society of Wine Educators, respectively. Since 2019, Ms. Blackwell-Calvert has been a sommelier for Elaia and Ollo in St. Louis, having previously held such roles as beverage director for Reeds American Tables, sales representative for Vintegrity Wines and Spirits, wine specialist for Ionia Atlantic Imports and server for Oceano Bistro. In light of her outstanding achievements, Ms. Blackwell-Calvert has been named among the 40 Under 40 by Wine Enthusiast Magazine in 2018, as well as a Feast Magazine Rising Star. She was recognized on the Best Wine List in St. Louis by Sauce Magazine as well.
