Drawing upon an AA in the administration of justice, she decided to return to college and obtained her real estate license. Soon thereafter, she served as a property manager and office manager before earning her broker’s license. In 2007, Ms. Swerkes was employed by First Statewide Realty, and now serves as a broker and owner. Specializing in residential property management, Ms. Swerkes and her team work with property owners and renters throughout the state of California, and she soon expects to expand to other states on the West Coast and throughout the Midwest. Focusing their management on quality single-family homes, condominiums, townhouses, duplexes and other multi-dwelling buildings, First Statewide Realty was founded in 1988. Ms. Swerkes is notable for performing 1031 exchanges and networking with other clients throughout the nation to help with their investment goals. To remain abreast of industry changes, she has maintained affiliation with the California Apartment Association, for whom she has served on several subcommittees. Likewise, she is a past treasurer of the Women’s Council of Realtors and a member of the Silicon Valley of Realtors, Santa Clara County Association of Realtors, Amana County Association of Realtors and Silicon Valley Network. Attributing her success to her upbringing by her parents, particularly her father, Ms. Swerkes is licensed in the State of California and is looking to obtain additional licenses in other states such as Utah. She advises future realtors to be passionate about the job and to keep money in reserve, noting that realty work can be free-of-charge until a deal is closed. Notably, First Statewide Realty was named Best Property Management Company by Cupertino Community Business in 2019, and Ms. Swerkes was recognized as a Top Agent and Small Businessperson of the Year.
