256 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine LAW AND LAW ENFORCEMENT F ollowing his high school graduation, Keith Alan Freeman was unsure of his next steps in life. Upon discussing law enforcement with his friends who were police officers, he subsequently became inspired to pursue the same path, thus commencing his career in law enforcement. Drawing upon an AA from Haans Community College, Mr. Freeman escalated through the ranks at the Jackson Police Department in Mississippi until becoming commander and lieutenant in 1991. He notably served in these roles until his retirement in 2020. Post-retirement, Mr. Freeman has served as a reserve deputy in his local sheriff’s department. Although retired, he intends to continue working as long as he is able-bodied while still enjoying the benefits of retirement. He attributes his success to the grace of God. Civically involved, Mr. Freeman was the second vice president of the Jackson Police Department Association and frequently volunteered with his local church. He currently advises aspiring law enforcement officers to learn how to talk to the community in a professional manner. He also encourages them to continue gaining experience in the field and to remain abreast of new laws and developments.
