263 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine RETAIL, WHOLESALE, DISTRIBUTION AND SALES W illiam A. Squires is a distribution company executive who served as president of Esquire Gas Products Company in Enfield, Connecticut, from 1987 until retiring in 2012. A prior vice president of the company beginning in 1972, he served as an intern in the office of U.S. Congressman Silvio O. Conte in Washington, D.C., in 1971. To prepare for his career, he pursued formal education at the University of Pennsylvania, earning a BA in 1971. Impressively, Mr. Squires has been a singer for Mak’hela, the Jewish Chorus of Western Massachusetts, since 2003 and sang at the Special Olympics World Games’ Opening Ceremony in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1995. A gifted vocalist, he also sang “The Star Spangled Banner” at Fenway Park and the Mohegan Sun Arena, as well as at over 450 different events throughout the Eastern United States. Additionally, he sang at Ground Zero in New York for the New York Police Department Counter-Terrorism Unit for September 11th remembrance ceremonies. Mr. Squires has contributed to the local emergency planning committee for the Town of Enfield. Previously, he was involved with the Springfield Jewish Endowment Foundation, Congregation Kodimoh Brotherhood, Goodwill Industries, Jewish Family Service of Greater Springfield, Massachusetts, and the University of Pennsylvania. He has also been a volunteer at Rachel’s Table in Springfield and is a life member of Friends of Storrowton. Mr. Squires has maintained affiliation with Rotary International, where he was a 1995-1996 District Governor’s Area Representative and 1984-1985 District Secretary. A past president of the Enfield Rotary Club, he is a life member of the National Audubon Society and National Wildlife Federation. Decorated with myriad accolades, Mr. Squires was honored with his wife, Nancy, by the Lubavitcher Yeshiva Academy in 2011 and was a finalist for the Family Business of the Year Award by the University of Connecticut in 2003. In 1988 and 2000, he was named a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International. He was also a torchbearer in the 1996 Olympic Torch Relay. WILLIAM A.
