Dr. Belsky was a contributing author to the book “Guide for Evaluation of Atmospheric Analysis” in 1973 and “Method Air Sampling and Analysis” in 1977. Authoring articles in scientific journals, he has maintained affiliation with the American Chemical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Public Health Association, serving on their intersocietal committee from 1971 to 1978. Dr. Belsky has been renowned for his longevity, drawing upon more than four decades of excellence. Acquiring experience in micro- and ultramicro-analytical techniques for the study of trace quantities of organic materials, he has been a consultant to research and analytical chemists, industrial hygienists, field engineers and laboratory management on the methods for sampling and analysis, data interpretation and laboratory reports. W hen he was young, Dr. Theodore Belsky enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War in 1951. Serving as a hospital corpsman, he realized he enjoyed working with physicians in hospitals and learning about medicine. After five months of training, he graduated from school, setting the record for the Navy’s highest score of 99.1%. Subsequently, he realized that he possessed great intelligence and went on to attend college at the City College of San Francisco, where he obtained an Associate of Arts in 1957. Soon thereafter, he matriculated at the University of California Berkeley, focusing his studies on engineering physics and then biophysics. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science and PhD in 1960 and 1966, respectively. Dr. Belsky served the Space Science Laboratory at the University of California Los Angeles as an organic geochemist for two years before being employed by the California Department of Health Services in 1969. Serving as a public health chemist for 30 years, he retired in 1999.
