265 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine SCIENCES, PHARMACEUTICALS AND BIOTECHNOLOGY B oasting a knack for farming from a formative age, Gary Dean Boldt grew up on his family’s farm, which his parents maintained during his adolescent years. Developing a strong interest in botany and mathematics while attending high school, he decided to further his curiosity by attending the University of Kansas, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in botany and mathematics in 1963. Soon thereafter, he joined the United States Peace Corps, where he served in East Pakistan between 1963 and 1965. While in East Pakistan, he had the mission to help science instructors use innovative lab equipment in high school classrooms. Since 1974, Mr. Boldt has been a self-employed farmer in Ulysses, Kansas, alongside a tenant who aids him on the farm. Experimenting now with organic foods and grains, he notes that they no longer use artificial pesticides or fertilizers. Utilizing his background in science, he has approached his farm with scientific measurements and techniques, thus establishing him as a distinguished figure in the agriculture industry. Currently, Mr. Boldt serves on the Grant County Conservation Board and has also been a member of the Cimarron regional advisory committee for the Kansas Water Office. Among the notable highlights of his career, he is especially proudest of his direct involvement in the American Agriculture Movement. Impressively, he was chairman of the regional agriculture movement in Southwest Kansas and was part of the Tractorcade to Washington, D.C. Revered as a hard-working individual, Mr. Boldt intends to continue experimenting with grain farming, as it is a developing trend in the agriculture industry. Looking toward the future, he intends to further develop his farming techniques to remain abreast of current trends, as well as involve himself in more organizations pertaining to his interests. As a testament to his success, Mr. Boldt was highlighted in the 58th edition of Who’s Who in America in 2003.
