275 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine SCIENCES, PHARMACEUTICALS AND BIOTECHNOLOGY where he attended the University of Oxford and obtained a PhD in 1972 on a Rhodes scholarship. Serving as a postdoctoral research fellow for the following three years with an IBM research fellowship, he subsequently immigrated to the United States in 1976 and began his tenure at Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, New York. First serving Brookhaven National Laboratory as an assistant physicist for one year, Dr. Millener advanced to associate physicist in 1977 and physicist in 1980, a role he held for 33 years until 2013. Since that time, he has continued serving Brookhaven as a guest scientist. Notably, he had a sabbatical leave to the National Institute for Nuclear Theory in Seattle in 1992. Dr. Millener has been a fellow of the American Physical Society since 1993 and previously served on the editorial board of Physical Review C from 1996 to 1998, having continued his role as associate editor of the publication since 2002. Likewise, he was a member of the TUNL Nuclear Data Project from 2002 to 2004. With his work being cited numerous times throughout the course of his career, Dr. Millener co-authored “The Particle-Hole Interaction and the Beta Decay of 14B” in 1975, “Strong E1 Transitions in 9Be, 11Be, and 13C” in 1983 and “Spin Dependence of the ΛN Effective Interaction” in 1985. He has also contributed more than 80 articles to scientific and scholarly journals within the areas of nuclear structure and hyper nuclear physics. As a testament to his success, Dr. Millener was highlighted in the first edition of Who’s Who in Science and Engineering in 1992. He advises future professionals in the field to discover what they enjoy and pursue it to their fullest potential. A native of Auckland, New Zealand, Dr. D. John Millener attended the University of Auckland and earned a Bachelor of Science in 1966. Continuing his studies at the university, he earned a Master of Science in 1968 before relocating to England, D. JOHN MILLENER, PHD GUEST SCIENTIST Brookhaven National Laboratory Shoreham, NY
