Lending his professional expertise to academia, Dr. Rhodes entered his industry as an instructor turned assistant and associate professor of radiology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1966, holding the roles until 1975. Upon relocating, he served as a professor of radiology and pharmacy and director of radiopharmacy at the University of Kansas Medical Center for one year before joining the faculty at the University of New Mexico in 1976. A professor of pharmacy and radiology, as well as director of radiopharmacy, he departed from the university in 1981. Proudest of his participation in the development, testing and creation of radioactive drugs, including radioactive microspheres used for lung scanning, Dr. Rhodes holds a BS from New Mexico State University and a PhD from Johns Hopkins University. Outside of his primary positions, he has consulted for Abbott Laboratories, 3M Co. and the International Atomic Energy Commission, among other organizations. Likewise, he was chairman of the examination committee of the American Board of Science in Nuclear Medicine in New York, as well as chairman of Quality Control in Nuclear Medicine in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Notably, he is a former co-chairman of the International Symposium on Radiopharmacy in Atlanta. Expanding his career globally, Dr. Rhodes has attended international conferences regarding radioactive drugs in South Africa and Austria. In light of his successes, he received an honorary award in nuclear pharmacy from the American Pharmacists Association and has been listed in several Who’s Who publications. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening. S upported by more than 50 years of experience in the sciences and academia, Dr. Buck Austin Rhodesmost recently served as president of Buck A.
