Likewise, he was a member of the South- ern California University School of Pharmacy’s advisory board. He also served in volunteer po- sitions at various associations and organizations. A fellowof theAmericanCollege of Apothecaries, Mr. Stewart served on the editorial board for U.S. Pharmacist Magazine. He is a member of the APhA, the California Pharmacists Association and the Knights of Columbus, where he was district deputy. He also maintained affiliation with the Society for Consumer Affairs and the California Association for Personnel Consultants. As a testament to his success, Mr. Stewart has been awarded numerous accolades throughout his career. He was featured in Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America in 1988 and Who’s Who in the West in 1987. Mr. Stewart attributes his success to his family’s support and his first major influencer, the late pharmacist Joseph Moses Port. He considers a highlight of his career to be building the Stewart Group. H olding a desire to work in health care, James M. Stewart graduated from the Massachusetts Pharmacy College in 1964 with a BS in pharmacy and became a registered pharmacist that same year. In 1988, he achieved an MBA from Pepperdine University, and has since utilized his second de- gree to serve as president and managing director to the Stewart Group, an executive search firm in the pharmaceutical and medical businesses. He has maintained this role for over 30 years. Mr. Stewart worked as a pharmacist for various pharmacies in Boston before serving as director of professional relations at Pilgrim Health Appli- cations in Bedford, Massachusetts, from 1974 to 1978. He subsequently became an executive directorof theMassachusettsStatePharmaceutical Association in Boston from 1978 to 1984 and man- ager of industry affairs at Syntex Laboratories, Inc., in Palo Alto, California, until 1988. Philanthropically involved as well, Mr. Stewart sat on the finance committee for the Town of Kingston, Massachusetts, from 1974 to 1977 and was amember of the capital budget committee for the Town of Marshfield, Massachusetts, from 1980 JAMES H.
