281 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine SCIENCES, PHARMACEUTICALS AND BIOTECHNOLOGY 1959 as a teaching fellow at his alma mater, the University of Sydney, he subsequently served CSIRO wheat research unit (later to be known as the CSIRO Grain Quality Research Laboratory) in Sydney as an experimental scientist from 1961 to 1963, experimental scientist/research scientist from 1967 to 1969, senior research scientist from 1970 to 1983, chief research scientist and officer- in-charge from 1983 to 1997, and post-retirement fellow from 1997 to 2000. Punctuating his appointments at CSIRO, Dr. Wrigley also served the University of Sydney as a research fellow and the University of Manitoba in Canada as a postdoctoral fellow in theDepartment of Research Science. Post-retirement, he was a project consultant for the Value-Added Wheat Cooperative Research Centre and honorary research fellow at CSIRO Food Science Australia between 2001 and 2009. Additionally, he is a past director and past chairman of the research advisory committee of Gradipore Ltd. Drawing upon a BS, with honors, and MS in biochemistry, both from the University of Sydney, Dr. Wrigley continued his education at the institution with a PhD in agricultural chemistry in 1966. A contributor of over 600 articles in professional journals and over 700 items, including research papers, book chapters and patents, he is a past editor-in-chief of “Elsevier Encyclopedia of Food Grains” and “Elsevier Encyclopedia of Grain Science.” He has also co-authored seven books on Australian cereal varieties. Dr. Wrigley holds four patents on the processing and testing of cereal grains, and invented gel isoelectric focusing for the fractionation of proteins and rapid visco analyzer to characterize grain and starch quality. He earned the T.B. Osborne Medal in 1992 and H.G. Smith Medal in 1987. He is a fellow of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute. D r. Colin W. Wrigley is a noteworthy food scientist who has accrued more than 60 years of experience in the field. Now an adjunct professor at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, QLD, Australia, since 2011, he previously served several laboratories and corporations in scientific roles.
