294 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine TECHNOLOGY D eveloping a passion for recreational climbing in the early 1990s, Shane Best pursued the tower industry after the first wave of cellular infrastructures were installed in 1996. Moving into the cellular industry for two years, he subsequently transitioned to the broadcast realm of television and FM radio signals. After accruing several years of experience in the field, he founded Best Endeavors, Inc., in Wakefield, Rhode Island, in 2009. As the decades continued, the company has progressed from a one-man operation to a company with 12 employees. Best Endeavors is now notably recognized among the best elite companies in the tower industry. In his position, Mr. Best provides tower construction, repair and maintenance services. Alongside his primary vocation, Mr. Best is a tower and facilities maintenance manager for Sutro Tower in San Francisco, a landmark television and radio antenna. He is also amember of the National Association of Tower Erectors, for whom he is a consultant to their Rigging Department. Drawing upon an AA from Frederick Community College from 1996, Mr. Best attributes his and his company’s success to willpower, tenacity and a passion for creating a safe work environment for all of his employees. Prior to his tenure within telecommunications and broadcast, Mr. Best was a correctional officer at a state penitentiary for a number of years. While there, he learned how to take on a “no quit” attitude despite whatever challenge may arise in life or work. He derives his inspiration from his father, Rod Pearson, who instilled in Mr. Best his moral attributes. Since working in corrections, he has traveled to all 50 states and five Canadian provinces, as well as to the Middle East and North Africa. Looking toward the future, Mr. Best intends to transition his company to a newphase of leaders while he takes a step back from the business. He would also like to take on a more managerial role with Sutro Tower. Additionally, he strives to pursue sailing and sail his boat across the Caribbean waters and down New England’s shoreline.
