35 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT E nlisting in the U.S. Army in 1954, Wallace Harry Hill engaged in basic training, where he subsequently sustained injuries. Flown overseas to Germany, Mr. Hill was initially intended to be in the Artillery Division. However, after discussing with the German interviewer that he was a disc jockey in the United States, he joined the Armed Forces Network as an announcer turned record show producer. Following in the footsteps of his commanding officer, Mr. Hill attended American University after his military discharge and received a Bachelor of Arts in communications in 1960. Mr. Hill briefly worked for a local radio station in Washington, D.C., before relocating to New York to commence his professional communications career. Joining NBC in 1973, he first worked in the mailroom before being promoted to operations. He then advanced to the role of television production manager for NBC Sports until 1992. In his role, he reported on golf matches, football games, basketball games and horse racing. Since that time, he has been a sports television consultant in New York. During his tenure in radio, sports and television, Mr. Hill produced such films as “Skills that Last a Lifetime” in 1972 and “In Search of Spring” in 1973, both of which won Silver Awards. Likewise, he participated in the International Film and Television Festival in New York, showcasing his work, and was a member of the broadcast advisory board for the NBA in New York from 1992 to 1998. Among the notable highlights of his career, Mr. Hill recalls working in Africa in six months during the 1960s, where he aided in the production of a four-hour show with narrator Gregory Peck. He found this moment to be quite memorable and inspiring, particularly in his career that has been defined by sports and documentaries. As a testament to his success, Mr. Hill has been highlighted in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the Media and Communication, and Who’s Who in the World.
