He has traveled extensively in pursuit of his field, and has appeared nationally and internationally in bands and orchestras that have accompanied such artists as Dionne Warwick and Frankie Avalon. He also arranged and conducted for various productions and choreographers. Producing several albums throughout his career, he produced “Monism” in 1975, as well as the albums “We Are Not Separate from Spirit, We Are In It” and “Continuum.” Alongside his career in composing and academia, Mr. Marsh is also a saxophonist and flautist. Lauded for his musical talents, he maintains membership with the Artists Foundation, for whom he is also a certified administrator and grant recipient. As a testament to his success, Mr. Marsh was the 2020 recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and was highlighted in Who’s Who in America. G rowing up in a musical environment, Milton Marsh was encouraged by his mother, a pianist, to study classical piano. He was also influenced by pioneers in the musical field, such as John Coltrane. In his youth, he attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he earned a Bachelor of Music in 1969. Subsequently, he received a Master of Music from the New England Conservatory in Boston in 1971. Since 1964, he has also held a certificate in education from London University. Commencing his career in 1970, Mr. Marshwas a music consultant for the National Center for Afro- American Artists in Roxbury, Massachusetts, for one year. Shortly thereafter, he served as a visiting professor at the State University of New York at Oneonta from 1972 to 1973, before becoming a professor and director of Afro-American music studies at the University at Buffalo between 1973 and 1977. Notably, he was also the director of the music seminar for the Studio Foundation for the Arts in his native Hamilton, Bermuda.
