Likewise, he is a past 42-year director of the Duncan YMCA in Chicago prior to its closure, past board of directors member of the Securities Club Chicago and past president of the Chernin Center for the Arts. Additionally, he served on the board of directors of the Center for Ethics and Corporate Policy from 1990 to 1992, and volunteered with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Sefton attributed his success to his affinity to learn new subjects and adapt accordingly to meet their needs. He considered a highlight of his career to be his tenure as manager of revenue requirements for Ameritech, noting that he was in charge of 10 people in the workplace. He passed away in 2021 surrounded by friends and family. D esiring to go into the service industry from a young age, Bobby R. Sefton always had a passion for helping others. Receiving a Bachelor of Science in engineering administration from Milikin University in 1964, he first served as a commercial supervisor for the Illinois Bell Telephone Co. in Chicago from 1956 to 1957 before being promoted to sales manager in 1957, marketing manager in 1960, district commercial manager in 1963, district public telephone manager in 1966, district manager of the treasury in 1969 and district manager of regulatory in 1975. Departing from Illinois Bell Telephone Co. in 1983, he also received an MBA from Northwestern University during his tenure there in 1965. Beginning in 1984, Mr. Sefton served Ameritech Services, Inc., in Chicago as manager of revenue requirements for six years before being elevated to the rank of executive director of revenue requirements in 1990. Holding the position for two years, he retired as executive director in 1992. Post-retirement, he served as a private business consultant in Evanston, Illinois, from 1991 to 1993. BOBBY R.
