61 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION associate dean of the Division of Policy Transla- tion and Leadership Development since 2010, and is a former co-director of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, which has been part of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health’s Proj- ect on Understanding Americans’ Health Agenda. Focusing his studies in what was formerly known as “policy sciences” while attending the University of Chicago for a master’s degree, Dr. Blendon was interested in how it played a role in shaping the future of health care. First earning a BA in political science from Marietta College, he then received an MBA from the University of Chicago, and an MPH and DSc from Johns Hopkins University. Earlier in his career, Dr. Blendon was a fellow of the Indiana University Health Medical Center, instructor of medical care and hospital sciences, and assistant to the associate dean of public health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and special assistant for health affairs and policy development to the assistant secretary of health and science affairs at the U.S. Department of Health. Lecturing extensively at Princeton University, he was also a senior policy analyst for the Committee on the Health Services Industry. Demonstrating versatility, Dr. Blendon co- authored the 2010 book “American Public Opinion andHealth Care” and sits on the editorial board of the Journal of the American Medical Association. Maintaining membership with the National Academy of Medicine and Council on Foreign Relations, he is a past president of the Association of Health Services Research. Dr. Blendon has accrued numerous accolades over his career, including the Distinguished Investigator Award from the Association of Health Services, Baxter Award for “Lifetime Achievement in the Health Services-Related Field” and Warren J. Mitofsky Award for Excellence in Public Opinion Research. R ecognized as a renowned figure within the fields of health policy and educa- tion, Dr. Robert J. Blendon began his tenure at Harvard University in 1987 as a professor of health policy and political analysis at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
