Currently, Dr. Stanton holds the title of professor emeritus of psychology at Spalding University’s School of Professional Psychology and Social Work. Holding emeritus status since 1999, he previouslyserved theuniversityasprofessor, dean and vice president for academic research across two years. Prior to his appointments at Spalding, Dr. Stanton served such prestigious academic institutions as the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, Harvard Medical School and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in increasingly responsible roles. Furthermore, he was a faculty member and director of research at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic, part of the teaching faculty at the Family Institute of Philadelphia, and assistant chief of the Psychology Training Service at Walter Reed General Hospital. At the inception of his career in 1968, he was a chief psychologist at Fort Dix, New Jersey. Dr. Stanton has been a member of 16 editorial boards, an author of over 150 professional pub- lications, and given over 500 invited presenta- tions and workshops in 27 countries across five continents. Further, he has served on advisory boards or been a consultant to more than 75 governmental and private agencies, including four years as a consultant to The White House. In light of his contributions to psychology, education and the military, Dr. Stanton earned a Cumulative Contribution to Family Therapy Research Award from the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, a Presidential Citation from the American Psychological Association, a Legacy Circle Award from the National Council on Family Relations and a Bronze Star Medal from the U.S. Army. Notably, received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. D rawn to psychology due to the influence of his parents, Dr. M. Duncan Stanton earned a BA in psychology from Alfred University, MA in clinical psychology from George Washington University, and PhD in clinical and community psychology from the University of Maryland.
