23 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine T he owner of House Plans by Bonnie, Inc., in Jacksonville, Florida, since 1987, Bonnie Stewart has been in the home design business for nearly 35 years. Attracted to drawing as a young child, she began taking drafting courses in high school. Soon after graduating, she continued her education at Ashland Technical School while working full time at Ashland Oil in Kentucky. Subsequently, she began collaborating with architects and home designers in the region, who taught her the art of structural design. House Plans by Bonnie serves the Jacksonville and surrounding areas, offering custom home design, renovations, additions and garage designs. Developing more than 2,000 custom homes since the company’s inception, Ms. Stewart prides herself on her work, as she always takes the client’s thoughts into consideration in order to develop their ultimate dream home. She says that she is just as excited as her clients when a design idea becomes a reality. Her clients’ home sizes range from 2,000 square feet to over 16,000 square feet. Recognized in Who’s Who Among Builders and Designers for outstanding achievements and excellence in 1997, Ms. Stewart is lauded by her excellent turnaround time of approximately two weeks, in which she works long hours and weekends to draft preliminary designs for each client’s home. She most enjoys designing two- and three-story homes with elevators, as well as oceanfront properties. She has also been featured in local newspapers. Ms. Stewart attributes her success to a friend who encouraged her from an early age to follow her dreams and jumpstart her own business. She finds her work to be challenging; however, she always takes the challenges on with stride and she never turns down a potential job. Referred to by other designers and individuals in Florida, Ms. Stewart’s business is a one-person operation.
