He received a BA in sociology and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Pittsburgh in 1969 and 1972, respectively, and has since accrued five decades of experience in his field. First serving the Montgomery County Planning Commission from 1971 to 1984, he joined the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC), serving the organization as director of the Strategic Planning Division until 1990. Departing from DVRPC, he served as director of long range planning at Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) before returning to DVRPC in 1998 in various positions, including director of planning – a role he held until his retirement in 2014. Since 2015, he has lent his expertise as a senior advisor at Econsult Solutions. Mr. Bickel was honored with the Governor’s Award for Local Government Excellence in 2005, and was named the Practitioner Site Visitor of the Year by the Planning Accreditation Board of the American Planning Association in 2009. Subsequently, in 2015 he earned the Planning Leadership Award from the Pennsylvania chapter of the American Planning Association. Since 1986, Vernon Leslie Grose has excelled as chairman of the Omega Systems Group, Inc. Involved in the government and sciences, he previously served in Washington, D.C., as an expert consultant to a White House assignment to the EPA’s associate administrator for research and development and to the NASA chief engineer. Holding several prominent roles, he commenced his career as an applied physics staff member at The Boeing Company in 1952, followed by a directorship at Litton Industries and Northrop Ventura. Mr. Grose has contributed to Fox News since 1996, and is a former expert lecturer, expert commentator for more than 300 television interviews and adjunct professor across the globe. He holds a BS in physics from Whitworth College and an MS in systems management from the University of Southern California, and was given an honorary DSc from Southern California College. Additionally, he was a featured guest on numerous talk show broadcasts and highlighted in Time Magazine, The Washington Post and U.S. News & World Report. Mr. Grose is responsible for originating the widely adopted SMART technique for managing risks, which was leveraged to combat terrorism at the 1984 Olympics. VERNON LESLIE GROSE
