She has also conducted women’s spiritual retreats and conferences for more than 35 years. Rev. Dr. Browning notably received an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from the African Methodist Episcopal University in Monrovia, Liberia, in 2006. In addition, she was honored to preach at Spelman College’s baccalaureate ceremony in 2007, as well as preached, taught and facilitated workshops throughout the United States, Haiti, Bermuda, Barbados, Germany, Israel and South Africa. Rev. Dr. Browning received the Benjamin E. Mays and Pew fellowships, and in 2002, was recognized as an honorary member of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc. Looking forward, she intends to publish another book regarding her own spiritual experiences in an effort to empower the faith of women. Driven to pursue ministerial services from an early age, Rev. Dr. Jo Ann Browning received a bachelor’s degree in communications from Boston University. Drawing upon this degree, she attended Howard University, where she received an MS in divinity in 1986. She obtained a Doctorate of Ministry from Howard University’s School of Divinity in 1991, and wrote her doctoral dissertation on the importance of connecting the church and the community. She commenced her religious career in 1982, serving on the ministerial staff at Hemingway Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Church in Chapel Oaks, Maryland, before becoming a member of the ministerial staff at St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in 1983. In 1985, Rev. Dr. Browning joined the Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church in Fort Washington, Maryland, as an assistant minister. Over the years, she ascended the ranks to assistant pastor, and has served as co-pastor since 1991. During her tenure in religious services, Rev.
