247 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS PATHOLOGIST, EDUCATOR, RESEARCHER Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, FL NURSING EDUCATOR Florida International University Miami, FL AZIZA NASSAR, MD Inspired to pursue medicine as a career by her paternal grandfather, who was a family physician, Dr. Aziza Nassar has excelled as an associate professor of pathology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, since 2007, and later as a professor at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, since 2013. Since the inception of her career, she has focused her attention on such medical subjects as cervical cancer, the prognostic and predictive biomarkers of breast cancer, molecular techniques in cytopathology and the epithelial-mesenchymal transition in breast cancer. Currently serving as a professor of pathology and laboratory medicine, she is also the chairperson of the pathology department at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Nassar draws upon a MBBS from the University of Khartoum in 1993, as well as an MBA and an MPH in epidemiology and biostatistics from the George Washington University. She has been appointed a fellow of the American College of American Pathologists andmaintains membership with the American Society of Cytopathology, the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, and the U.S. and Canadian Academies of Pathology. To attest to her success, she received the 2019 Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. A native of Kingston, Jamaica, Dr. Yvonne Parchment received a Certificate in Education in elementary education from Saint Joseph’s Teachers’ College in 1974. Shortly thereafter, she relocated to Florida, where she earned an AA and an AS from Miami Dade College in 1982, as well as a BSN and an MSN from the University of Miami in 1984 and 1989, respectively. After accruing numerous years in nursing education, Dr. Parchment earned an EdD from Florida International University in 2002. Since 2005, Dr. Parchment has excelled as an associate clinical professor in the department of nursing at Florida International University, where she has also served as an assistant clinical professor since 1995. She will retire in April 2021. At the inception of her career in 1974, she was an elementary school teacher in Kingston, Jamaica, followed by a 10-year nursing role at South Miami Hospital. From 1989 to 1995, she was a clinical nurse specialist at Mount Sinai Medical Center. She is admitted to practice geriatric nursing and psychiatric nursing and has authored articles for prominent medical journals. She was named Educator of the Year by Zeta Phi Beta in 2004 and 2012.
