287 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine LAW AND LAW ENFORCEMENT George F. Riess, Esq., was initially interested in the musical arts. However, upon his discovery of his love of politics and helping others, he decided to delve into the field of law. He earned a BA from Tulane University in 1965, followed by a JD from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge in 1969. Upon being admitted by the Louisiana State Bar, he began serving as a managing partner of Johnson & Riess Law Firm in New Orleans, where he remained for six years. From 1976 to 1996, he served as partner of the Monroe & Lemann Law Firm in New Orleans, and for the following four years, was partner of Polack, Rosenberg, Endom & Riess LLP. From 2000 until his retirement in 2020, Mr. Riess was a managing partner of the eponymously named LawOffices of George F. Riess, where he focused his practice on trial law. Equally interested in educating others, he was an adjunct professor of law at the Tulane University Law School between 1987 and 2008. Finding that education was the perfect intersection between his loves of law and helping others, he thoroughly enjoyed teaching. However, he is especially proud of his involvement in a major case regarding Dottie Adams and high profile oil companies. Mr. Riess partnered with a team of lawyers, which gradually diminished as the case lasted over 15 years. Although he withdrew from the case years ago, he still considers it a crowning achievement of his career. Mr. Riess is a fellow of the Louisiana State Bar Foundation and a member of the American Bar Association, the Louisiana Bar Association, the American Judicature Society, the Federal Bar Association and the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel. Post-retirement, he enjoys reading, walking and playing classical piano. He has been a member and associate of the New Orleans Friends of Music and, demonstrating versatility in his field, has been a published poet. Millennium Magazine Featured Listee GEORGE F.
