Thomson Jr. is renowned in the field of law as an intellectual property litigation attorney. With experience in an array of intellectual property matters, including in the pharmaceutical, biotech, chemical and computer technology industries, he has represented high-profile clients in jury and court trials, as well as before the International Trade Commission. Alongside his primary role, Mr. Thomson serves as counsel and is a member of the Judge Paul R. Michel Intellectual Property American Inn of Court and further lends his expertise as counsel on patent, trademark, copyright and licensing matters. Lecturing frequently within his areas of practice, he had been admitted to practice before all U.S. District Courts in California, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth and Federal Circuits, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He draws upon a BS in chemical engineering from Bucknell University and a JD from the Georgetown University Law Center. A civic leader in his spare time, Mr. Thomson served as mayor of Pasadena, California, between 1988 and 1990 and was a member of the Pasadena City Council from 1981 to 1997. To this end, he has represented the City of Pasadena before the U.S. Congress, the California Legislature and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, where under his leadership, he secured major events for the Rose Bowl, such as the 1984 Olympics, the 1987 and 1993 Super Bowls and the 1994 World Cup. Earlier in his career, Mr. Thomson served as a lieutenant and captain in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he served active duty in Germany. He is a member of the American, California and Los Angeles Bar Associations, and he previously received an Arts Merit Award from the Pasadena Committee Arts Center.
