Always desiring to pursue higher education, he returned to school at Southeastern Theological Seminary and earned a Master of Arts in Christian school administration, a Master of Arts in Christian education and an EdD in education, which he received in 2010. Throughout his career, Dr. Ray has worked in both an educational and theological capacity, having been a minister at various churches for 25 years and a public high school teacher for 10 years. Since 2009, he has excelled as the headmaster of Oakwood Christian Academy in Chickamauga, Georgia. During his tenure at Oakwood Christian Academy, he has also been a basketball and soccer coach. Alongside his primary vocational path, he served as an adjunct professor of world religion at Truett McConnell University, was a youth pastor and interim pastor at various churches in Georgia, and was a parttime missionary throughout Mexico, Germany and Panama. Dr. Ray has maintained membership with the Georgia Association of Christian Schools over the course of his career. Although his career has been filled with highlights, he is especially proud of being nominated and winning the 2019-2020 National Association of Private and Parochial School Administrators’ National Administrator of the Year Award. He also earned the Right Stuff Award from the United States Base Academy. Dr. Ray has attributed his success to his consistency in his words and behavior, as well as his faith in and focus on Jesus Christ. Looking toward the future, Dr. Ray intends to become involved in politics, particularly with various congressmen to give back to and serve his own communities. In addition to this pursuit, he would also like to ease into another administrative role at a Christian university. While attending high school, Dr. Daniel L. Ray felt a calling to work for students, whether it was in a teaching or religious capacity.
