117 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION AUTHOR, EDUCATOR, WILDLIFE VOLUNTEER Suisun City, CA ART TEACHER Albany School District, New York Eight Mile, AL RITA “EM” EMERY Drawing upon an AA from Contra Costa College, BA from Chico State College and MA fromWashington State University, Rita “Em” Emery excelled as a physical education teacher for over 40 years. Commencing her career in 1963 after receiving her bachelor’s degree, she was an instructor of physical education for numerous schools throughout Nevada and California while lending her expertise to universities as a women’s softball and women’s volleyball coach at the collegiate level. Later in her career, she served the Vallejo City Unified School District as a teacher, coach and mentor until 2007. Holding a passion for children, she returned to the district to serve as a mentor and instructor with the after school program. Post-retirement, Ms. Emery has volunteered with the Suisun Wildlife Center and the Senior Coalition as a Matter of Balance Instructor. She has penned two authentic poems, published in “Melange: Musings on Life from a Writer’s Pen” in 2018, followed by a children’s book, “Wildfire: Woodpecker’s Amazing Adventure,” in 2021. A former speaker with the American Heart Association, who named her 1986 and 1988 Volunteer of the Year, she received Teacher of the Year and Coach of the Year honors. A prolific artist from a young age, Eleanor “Ellie” Fuerst has excelled as an art teacher throughout the Albany School District in New York for numerous decades. Teaching at the Blessed Sacrament School, Menands School and Scotia-Glenville High School, she previously served as president of the Adirondack Arts and Crafts Guild and a member of the New York State Teachers Association. After running a business for several years, Ms. Fuerst decided to attend college and become a teacher. As such, she received an AAS fromMohawk Valley Community College and an EdB from the College of St. Rose. Ms. Fuerst’s artwork is exhibited nationally and internationally, including in Paris and Geneva. Earlier in her career, she served as a lieutenant commander of the Kadeross Unit of the Civil Air Patrol in Saratoga Springs, New York, and has remained a senior member of the National Civil Air Patrol. In the mid-1990s, she also served as a certified elections officer in Providence, New York, and she was a member of the New York State Police Community Group for the 1969 Woodstock Music Festival.
