Spending nearly four years in the Navy Liaison out of the Coast Guard and four years in the reserves, he commenced his career in education as a teacher with the Navy. Throughout the 30 years he served academia, he did student teaching at Vanderburg Air Force Base. He also taught music at the Alan Hancock Junior College and became a summer school coordinator for seven elementary schools and two junior high schools in Upland, California. Mr. Ortman became a junior high school vice principal in Brawley, California, and principal of J.W. Oakley School, all located in Riverside County. He obtained his BA from La Verne Satellite School at Vanderburg Air Force Base. He completed his master’s degree in education from Cal-Poly University and attended two years of law school at Western State’s School of Law. Additionally, he authored “The Principal of Life” and received the Silver “C” Award. He cites helping students and colleagues as the most rewarding aspect of his career. With a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and anMBA from Saint Francis University, Greg J. Petyak has been an assistant professor of accounting at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown since 2010. He was also an adjunct assistant professor of accounting at Saint Francis University and held various accounting positions in Public Accounting, Crown American Corporation, Crown American Properties, and Cambria County Federal Savings & Loan. Mr. Petyak is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Pennsylvania, a Certified Global Management Accountant and a member of the Pennsylvania and American Institutes of Certified Public Accountants. His community activities include as a classroom volunteer and board member of Junior Achievement, a finance council at Holy Family Church, a treasurer of the Portage Area Development Association, and a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ volunteer Speakers Bureau.
