137 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ENERGY, ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING Drawing upon nearly 40 years of experience in petroleum science, production and engineering, Duane Gilbert Le Vine commenced his career with Exxon Corporation in 1959, where he remained for the duration of his career. Holding myriad roles across research areas including combustion, electrochemistry, and petroleum products and processes, he covered petroleum business planning and operations, as well as the worldwide logistics capital budget. His responsibilities included facilities planning for Esso Eastern, Esso Middle East and Worldwide lubricants production. From 1971 to 1974, he served Exxon as director of fuels products in the Quality Research Laboratory, where he led the company’s pioneering research on automotive catalytic converters. For the following two years, he served as manager of gasoline/ lubes processes in the Engineering Division. Mr. Le Vine excelled as general manager of Exxon’s Research Center in Baytown, Texas, emphasizing synthetic fuels and, from 1979 to 1984, he was senior director in Clinton, New Jersey, where he was responsible for the general management and work direction of Exxon’s 10 Corporate Science Laboratories. For the next six years, he served as manager of Exxon’s Corporate Office of Worldwide Environmental Affairs in New York. From 1990 until his retirement in 1998, he was a manager of science and strategy development in corporate headquarters in Dallas. In his positions, he formulated corporate and industry policies and positions on national, transnational and international energy and environmental issues, including climate change. Mr. Le Vine holds a BS in chemical engineering science and MS in engineering from Johns Hopkins University. He also completed the Executive Management Program at Pennsylvania State University and has been certified in science and policy of global change through the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and in risk analysis of environmental health through Harvard University. A fellow of the American Institute of Chemists, he was honored by Johns Hopkins University through the university’s naming of the Engineering Research School Conference Room for Patricia and Duane Le Vine in 2006.
