146 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ENERGY, ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING Alongside his primary endeavors, Mr. Woodward has contributed his time and expertise to civic matters. He is a former president, vice dean and dean of the Key School (Asbury Senior Adult Living), and was a co-chairman of the curve number committee. Demonstrating versatility in his profession, he also co-authored the book “Curve Number Hydrology: State of the Practice” in 2009. Mr. Woodward attributes his success to his work ethic and perseverance against struggle. Although his career has been filled with highlights, he is especially proud of refining the process that the Natural Resources Conservation Service employed for the estimation of rainfall and runoff for ungauged areas. During this time, he worked on studies in not only the United States, but also throughout Gambia, Poland, Peru and China. Additionally, he is proud to have worked on small gullies erosion. Donald Ellis Woodward desired to be involved in the sciences from an early age. First interested in building construction, he subsequently became intrigued by hydrology and sought to pursue the subject as a career. Matriculating in the University of Idaho, he received a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering and aMaster of Science in civil engineering in 1959 and 1962, respectively. After receiving his master’s degree, Mr. Woodward was employed by the Natural Resources Conservation Service, where he remained for the entirety of his career. First serving the organization in 1962 as a hydraulic engineer for several decades, he thereafter excelled as a national hydraulic engineer for the final eight years of his career prior to his retirement. Elected a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineering, he has won numerous accolades for his dedication to the industry. In 2014, he received the National Arid Land Hydraulic Engineer Award from the American Society of Civil Engineering. Earlier in 2003, he was honored for helping in Warsaw University of Life Science’s hydrology program.
