Atkins worked as a paramedic in Harlem, New York, where he primarily treated survivors of violent crime. After experiencing a dangerous situation in which he was caught in the line of fire, Dr. Atkins decided to resign from his position. Nevertheless, he still possessed a strong desire to help others, and eventually was accepted to a position as a paramedic for a holistic physician’s office. As his career progressed, he developed Atkins Integrative Wellness Solutions in Huntington, New York, where since 1984, he has served as director of clinical services and owner. During his tenure with Atkins Integrative Wellness Solutions, Dr. Atkins also excelled as the director of clinical services at the BioEnergetic Clinic in Juarez, Mexico, from 1991 to 1995. Revered for his plethora of knowledge on holistic medicine, integrative medicine and nutrition, he is board certified in holistic health and holds a PhD in integrative medicine from Capitol Technology University, which he attained in 2001. To remain abreast of industry changes, Dr. Atkins maintains affiliation with the American College for the Advancement of Medicine, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine and the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. He is also a member of the Nutritional Therapy Association, the American Association of Drugless Practitioners, and the American College of Integrative Medicine and Dentistry, among myriad other organizations. To attest to his resounding success, Dr. Atkins was named Best of Health & Medicine in Huntington, New York, for five consecutive years between 2015 and 2019. He attributes his success to practice, patience, love and tolerance with all of his patients, and notes that he treats them as family as opposed to simply a patient. Additionally, he is pronounced in his field for his dedication to finding the cause of his patients’ health problems and assisting them in overcoming their issues. Looking toward the future, Dr. Atkins plans to experience the continued growth and success of his career.
