234 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS At the inception of his career, Curtis A. Powells worked within the sales and marketing industries, eventually leading him to working with families with health care needs. Discovering the importance and value of health care, he subsequently delved into nursing and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the College of New Rochelle in 1994. Working as a registered nurse for many years, as well as for Johnson & Johnson and other clinical research organizations, he joined Orion Research Solutions International in 2005. Since that time, he has excelled as a senior clinical research associate, president and chief executive officer of Orion Research Solutions International. Although his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Powells cites raising awareness of the need for underserved and underrepresented communities in clinical research as a career achievement. He notes the significance of studying different demographics of individuals, particularly with respect to genetic implications on the human body based upon their demographic. For example, he emphasizes that the coronavirus has had a larger effect on African American communities for a variety of reasons, and physicians are presently being trained to aid these communities accordingly. He attributes his success to hard work, dedication and a natural affinity for business practices. Alongside his clinical work, Mr. Powells has also lent his expertise civically to his community. He has been active with local youth groups, as well as his local church, and is a volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Association. Likewise, he is a member of the Society of Research Associates and the African American Youth Leadership Conference. Looking toward the future, Mr. Powells intends to continue following the economic implications as it relates to health care for different demographics of individuals and receive funding and sponsors for his efforts. Ultimately, he wants Orion Research Solutions International to become more engaged in clinical research, as well as have investors view their plans to seek out further awareness.
