Earlier in his career, Dr. Probstfield served the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, as a clinical professor of medicine between 1991 and 1992. Additionally, he was a medical officer of the Clinical Trials Branch of the Division of Epidemiology and Clinical Applications with the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute from 1988 to 1993, where he also served as a special expert for the previous four years. Commencing his academic career in 1978, he was an assistant professor of medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston until 1984. He began his formal career in 1972 as an attending physician at the University of Minnesota Hospitals in Minneapolis, where he was involved in significant clinical trials in hypertension in the senior population, which was funded by the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Probstfield holds a BA from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, and an MD from the University of Washington School of Medicine. Throughout his longstanding career, he has contributed several scientific publications in journals, including the journal Scientific Research from 2019 to 2020. Although his career has been filled with highlights, he is exceptionally proud of bringing clinical trials to the University of Washington. To remain abreast of developments in the medical field, Dr. Probstfield is a member of the Society of Clinical Trials and the European Society of Cardiology, and is a fellow of the American Heart Association. He attributes his immense success to the support of his wife, Margaret, as well as his six children and 15 grandchildren. Drawing upon nearly 50 years of experience within the field of medicine, Dr. Jeffrey L. Probstfield is distinguished as a professor of cardiology medicine at the School of Medicine of the University of Washington in Seattle, where he began in 1994.
