Thereafter, he delved into academia as an assistant professor of law at Vanderbilt University in 1962, and soon ascended the ranks to associate professor. He departed from Vanderbilt University in 1966 while concurrently serving as a Ford Fellow at Columbia University from 1965 to 1966. From 1966 to 1979, Mr. Gifford was a professor of law at the University at Buffalo prior to becoming employed by the University of Minnesota in the same role. Excelling as a law professor until 1989, he also served as the Julius David Chair from 1982 to 1983 and as a Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ceresi Professor of Law Chair beginning in 1989. He retired and attained emeritus status in 2016. Mr. Gifford was admitted to practice law in Minnesota andNewYork, aswell as before the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota and the Supreme Court of the United States. Obtaining a JSD from Columbia University in 1981, he has served post-retirement as an antitrust consultant. Likewise, he contributed his time and expertise to various universities domestically and abroad, including Uppsala University in Sweden, the University of Lyons in France, the Free University of Brussels, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Michigan. Furthermore, Mr. Gifford has served as an author or co-author of numerous texts, such as “The Atlantic Divide in Antitrust: An Examination of U.S. and E.U. Competition Policy” in 2015, “Casebook: Administrative Law” in 1992 and 1996, and “Casebook: Federal Antitrust Law, Cases and Materials” in 1983 and 1985. He maintains affiliation with the American Law Institute, the American Bar Association and the Minnesota Bar Association. Becoming involved in his career path due to his inherent interest in economics, which later turned into an interest in trust law, administrative law and intellectual property law, Daniel J.
