335 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine SOCIAL SERVICES AND NONPROFIT A noteworthy philanthropist, humanitarian and charitable volunteer for more than 20 years, Talbott Bryan Maxey followed in the footsteps of her mother, who also was involved in charity work. Influenced equally by her father, Ms. Maxey’s family founded The Medial General Company, which was the largest company in the media industry at that time. After the family passed the company down to Ms. Maxey and her sister, they notably sold more than 100 newspapers to the famous Warren Buffett in 2012. At the inception of her philanthropy career in 1998, Ms. Maxey worked for the Center for Creative Education Program, as well as for Palm Beach Atlantic with the Young Strings Program, which advocates for children learning to play the violin. Since that time, she has also supported The Glades Academy and has worked closely with her local breast cancer foundation. Alongside these pursuits, Ms. Maxey has also been an advisor at the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a board member of the Palm Beach Island Hospice Foundation, and a trustee of the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach and the Society of the Four Arts. Ms. Maxey attributes her success to the inspiration of her family, who has always supported and encouraged her to help her become the best version of herself that she can be. Although her career has been filled with highlights, she is especially proud of working with the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach, as well as creating and steering the Young Strings Program in the early 2000s. Looking toward the future, Ms. Maxey intends to continue supporting philanthropic endeavors, and wants to expand her horizons to supporting food banks, food drives and church work. Additionally, she would like to help a local yoga center, and notes that she is currently working with local authority to address prison reform in Florida. Ms. Maxey holds a Bachelor of Arts in French and art history from Washington College and a Master of Social Work from Widener University.
