36 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT and Art Center, and has also lent her expertise as a juror for the 123rd and 124th Southern California Exhibitions of Art in 2001 and 2002 and the 1987 Midwest Region National Scholastic Art Awards. Furthermore, she sat for two terms on the board of directors of the San Diego Museum of Art’s Artists Guild between 1999 and 2002. Alongside her primary pursuits, for over four decades, Ms. Chick has collected etchings, woodcuts, stone lithographs and linocuts by American artists working between the period of 1875 and 1950. Her art has received national and international awards. She recently presented “New Eyes on New Mexico” at the Branigan Cultural Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico, a month-long exhibition of her paintings alongwith an artist talk. Ms. Chick enjoys competitive distance riding on Arabian horses. Looking forward, she intends to continue painting, as well as spend more time developing the Southwest Regional Museum of Art and Art Center. Drawing upon coursework from Bethany College, Victoria Chick was inspired to delve into art by the direction of the chairman of the art department, John Bashor. From there, Ms. Chick received a BA in art from the University of Missouri at Kansas City in 1967 and an MFA in painting from Kent State University in 1970. She achieved Registration in the American Art Therapy Association and worked in that field until 1989, concurrently teaching art at MapleWoods College from 1987 to 1989. She was invited to post a paper, “Varieties of Dementia Diagnosed in Drawing,” at the American Art Therapy Association National Conference in 1988. Shortly thereafter, she relocated to California, where she lectured in the art history department at the University of San Diego from 1989 to 1991 and was an instructor in studio courses, as well as lecturing in art history, at Palomar College from 1991 to 2005. Concurrent to her academic endeavors, Ms. Chick has also excelled as an independent artist since 1973, as well as a writer and art expert for various magazines and radio shows.
