SKRILOFF JAMES From a formative age, Alexis I. Skriloff James has been an avid reader. When she was young, she was the winner of a writing contest, thereby cementing her decision to enter the field of writing. At the inception of her career in 1974, she excelled as a freelance writer and editor in California, where she remained until 1995. Thereafter, she relocated to Morgan City, Louisiana, for one year as a freelance writer before moving to Indiana to serve McCarthy Media as the managing editor between 1996 and 1997. For the subsequent 24 years to the present day, she has been a consultant in Indianapolis. Alongside this endeavor, she remains the owner, writer, editor and sole proprietor of AIS Publications, which she commenced in 1994. Ms. Skriloff James has contributed to several local newspapers and international newsletters, and was a reviewer for The Writer’s Workshop. She also worked closely with the Hughes Aircraft Radar, in which she was an innovator for new programs that saved the company over $5.2 million. Although her career has been filled with highlights, she is exceptionally proud of being interviewed for television and highlighted in numerous articles. Intrigued by music in light of her mother’s influence, Sandra Rector Smith began piano lessons at the age of 5, and started playing piano in church when she was in the third grade. During high school, her classmates’ parents often called upon her to teach their children the piano, and eventually she taught piano to more than 30 students. Upon graduation, she attended Radford University, where she earned a BA and an MA in 1969 and 1972, respectively. Since 1971, Ms. Smith has excelled as a choral teacher at Floyd County Elementary School and a choral director at Floyd County High School. Alongside these feats, Ms. Smith has been the co-director of the Floyd Community Chorus since 1993 and an organist and choir director at her local Presbyterian Church since 1971. Since 2017, she has also flourished as president of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Music Festival. Maintaining affiliation with the American Guild of Organists, National Association for Music Educators and Presbyterian Association of Musicians, she has always exhibited a strong passion for music. Looking toward the future, she intends to continue remaining in good health and spirits. SANDRA RECTOR SMITH
