Mr. Watson joined Watson Insurance Agency, Inc., in Gastonia, North Carolina, following his receipt of his business degree, where he served inmyriad executive-level positions until 1991. Since 1991, he has excelled as president of the insurance agency. Mr. Watson holds a risk management diploma and is a chartered property-casualty underwriter, receiving his credentials in 1974. Throughout his career, he has maintained membership with several professional organizations to remain abreast of trends and developments in his profession, such as Professional Insurance Agents, Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina, the American Institute of Property and Liability Underwriters, and the Society of Certified Professional Insurance Agents of the Carolinas, who named Mr. Watson a lifetime member. As a testament to his success and longevity in the field of insurance management, Mr. Watson has accrued numerous accolades. In 1976 and 1977, he was named Boss of the Year by the Gastonia Association of Insurance Women and, in 1979, he was named Carolinas Agent of the Year by the Society of Certified Professional Insurance Agents of the Carolinas. That same year, Mr. Watson was honored as Professional Agent of the Year by Professional Insurance Agents of America, which he cites as a career highlight, as he was honored at a national convention in Washington, D.C., through the Old Mutual Agents Association. Most recently, he was designated with the title of Boss of the Year by the Gaston-Cleveland Association of Insurance Women in 1992. Mr. Watson is the proud father of three sons: Thomas Craig Watson III, Robert Watson and Brian Bazemore. He also has seven grandchildren. Looking forward, he intends to continue working until he is unable to do so. Inspired by the diligent work ethic of his father, Thomas C. Watson Jr. desired to enter the field of insurance and sought to obtain a higher education in management. After completing coursework at the Asheville School in 1959, he went on to receive a BSBA from the University of North Carolina in 1963.
