231 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Recently opening her own private practice, titled Last Frontier Eye Care, in February 2021, Dr. Marcy Lorraine O’Neil is distinguished as an exemplary optometrist, affiliate of the United States Air Force and philanthropist. Subsequent to earning a BS in biology and chemistry from Missouri State University in 2006, Dr. O’Neil decided to study optometry in light of her familial struggles with visual impairments. From there, she received a Doctor of Optometry from the University of Missouri in 2010, as well as anMS in health care administration from Champlain College in 2017. Throughout her extensive career, Dr. O’Neil has worked with numerous facilities, including Kaiser Permanente, Dr. Robert C. Bauman & Associates, and Norton Sound Health Corporation, with whom she has been affiliated since 2010. During her tenure in optometry, she also served the United States Air Force as chief of aerospace medicine for Europe’s largest fighter wing, and was chief of optometry of the Air National Guard. Civically engaged as well, Dr. O’Neil has worked closely with Native Alaskans, in which she provides premier health care services to remote locations along the Northwest Alaska coastline. Recently, she has developed alongside her business partner a nonprofit organization, titled Tundra Health Initiative, where she works to improve health care access in pediatric capacities for underserved populations in Alaska. She has traveled across the globe promoting the importance of eye care, and has experienced several cultures such as the Siberian Yupik along the U.S.- Russian border and the Maasai people of Kenya. As a testament to her success, Dr. O’Neil has received numerous accolades, particularly with respect to her efforts with the military and humanitarian endeavors. She has received a Meritorious Service Medal, two Commendation Medals and numerous Achievement Medals. A past member of the American Optometric Association, she currently served her local Rotary Club andmaintains involvement with the Laser Center Advisory Board, the Me ToWe Foundation and the Special Olympics.
