73 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Drawing upon more than six decades of expertise in theology, particularly regarding the relationship between Christianity, Judaism and Islam, Rev. Dr. Norman A. Beck has excelled as a professor of theology and classical languages at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas, since 1975. Also recognized as a Poehlmann professor and a Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation professor, Rev. Dr. Beck previously instructed at Capital University and Princeton Theological Seminary and served as a pastor at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Monroe, Michigan, and the King of Kings Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Supported by a BA in comprehensive social science and political science from Capital University in 1958 and a BD from Lutheran Theological Seminary in 1962, Rev. Dr. Beck also holds a PhD in biblical studies and the New Testament from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1967. In 1990, he notably earned an honorary doctorate from Trinity Lutheran Seminary. Demonstrating versatility in his profession, he has authored and published a number of books, such as “Mature Christianity in the 21st Century” in 1994, “Anti-Roman Cryptograms in the New Testament: Hidden Transcripts of Hope and Liberation” in 2010 and “The NewTestament: ANewTranslation and Redaction” in 2001, among other works. He also penned a movie script titled “Jesus, the Man” in 2010. Ordained to ministry by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in 1966, Rev. Dr. Beck has accrued several accolades and honors, including the 1982 Distinguished Faculty Award from the Texas Lutheran College Alumni Association and the 1992 Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation Award – a prestigious honor that recognized 10 outstanding full-time teachers annually within Texas. Likewise, he was highlighted in the fourth edition of Who’s Who in Religion. Rev. Dr. Beck has maintained affiliation of the Society of Biblical Literature, the American Academy of Religion, the Christian Study Group on Jews and Judaism, the Association of Church Teachers and the American Schools of Oriental Research.
