98 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION At the inception of his career in 1968, Dr. St. Elmo Nauman Jr. joined the faculty of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, where he remained for the following three years. Shortly thereafter, he transferred to the College of William and Mary, teaching there until 1980, while concurrently serving George Washington University as an educator between 1972 and 1980. Dr. Nauman continued his academic career in 1985 as a full professor at Baylor University until 1986, when he officially retired from higher education. Congruent to his academic paths, Dr. Nauman has been a certified ordained minister by the First Baptist Church since 1957, and served as a minister as several churches throughout the United States, including the Chelmsford St. Baptist Church in Lowell, Massachusetts, the Congregational Church in Berea, Ohio, and the Newport Congregational Church in Rhode Island. From 1990 to 1991, he was aminister of the Alpine Community Church in California. Subsequent to these activities, Dr. Nauman was an asylum officer at the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service in Anaheim, California, between 1992 and 2001. From there, he was an expert witness for the immigration court in Arcadia, California, from 2001 to 2004. Throughout his extensive career, Dr. Nauman has authored numerous books, most recently including “Treasury of Philosophy” in 2017 and “Fallacies and Logic: The Secret World of Evil Arguments” in 2016. Earlier, he authored “Dictionary of Asian Philosophies,” “Exorcism through the Ages,” “Dictionary of American Philosophy” and “New Dictionary of Existentialism.” In 1983, he edited the second edition of “Dictionary of Philosophy,” written by Dagobert Runes. Likewise, Dr. Nauman is a former commander of the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1973 to 1995 and Naval Air Station in Lemore, California, in 1992. In 1991, he commanded the Third Marine Air Wing at the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station. Highly educated, he holds a BA from the University of Chicago, an MDiv from the American Baptist Seminary of the West and a PhD from Boston University.
