To remain abreast of industry changes, Dr. Laherty has maintained membership with the Society of Lateral Access Surgery, the North American Spine Society, the Australasian Trauma Society and the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia, among other organizations. He has also been a member of the Workers Compensation Tribunal for several years. As a testament to his success, Dr. Laherty received a Commendation for Teaching from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2014. He was also highlighted in such Who’s Who publications as Who’s Who in the World and the 2018 edition of Millennium Magazine. Marquis Who’s Who has recognized him as a Top Doctor and an Industry Leader in 2020, and he also earned the 2020 Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. Supported by a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Queensland from 1996, Dr. Richard Laherty is also acclaimed as a certified independent medical examiner, a neurosurgeon and a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. At the inception of his career, he served as a spine surgery fellow at St. Vincent’s &ConcordHospitals in Sydney before transferring to Princess Alexandria Hospital in Brisbane, Australia, as a spine trauma fellow from 2009 to 2010. During his tenurewith the hospital, he served as a visitingmedical officer of neurosurgery and orthopedic spine, a consultant and medical spine surgeon, and a deputy director between 2009 and 2019. Likewise, he has excelled as a senior lecturer at the University of Queensland and an instructor of the early management of severe trauma course through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, both since 2009. Alongside his primary feats, Dr. Laherty was a clinical research fellowof the Queensland Cancer Fund in Brisbane from 2003 to 2006 and has also sat on the board of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the advisory committee of the Therapeutic Goods Administration.
