140 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ENERGY, ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING At the inception of his career in 1958, Robert William Prest Sr. served in the United States Navy as a parts technician aboard a Navy destroyer ship. During his tenure with the military, he learned electronics as a fire control technician FTG-E5 P2 until departing in 1962. Leveraging his array of experience in electronics, Mr. Prest joined The Raytheon Company in 1962 as a senior principal electrical engineer. While with Raytheon, he served in systems and subsystems across the globe, including in the United States, Germany, Holland, Japan and Kuwait. He retired in 2014 after accruing 52 years of experience. Alongside his primary endeavors, Mr. Prest authored an article and a presentation before the graduate class at the Lowell Technical Institute, titled “Colombia Disaster.” Throughout his career, he has always been willing to take on new challenges, and has never been afraid to do independent research on what he is required to know for his next project. He attributes his success to his creativity, curiosity and the support of his mentors. He lives by the motto, “Be true to yourself and be true to your work.” A former member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Lions Club, Mr. Prest has received several accolades in recognition of his service. He received two Technical Expertise Awards in 2011 and 2013, as well as a GAAN Technology Award in light of his prestige in the field. Impressively, Mr. Prest is a former co-owner of a plane with his brother, with whom he enjoyed flying. Looking toward the future of his life and career, he plans to begin his own consulting business. Likewise, he would like to spend more time with his family and grandchildren. He is the proud father of one daughter, Pamela, and grandfather of three grandchildren: Beth, Jennifer and Keenen.
