46 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT Equipped with the knowledge that she had the skills to enrich other individuals’ lives, Susan Katherine Tipton Lipsky desired to enter the field of social work. She has always felt that it is important to contribute to others’ well-being, and she ultimately wanted to help others and make a resounding impact on their personal environments. In 1968, she received a Bachelor of Science in social work and sociology from Syracuse University. Following this achievement, she began working for the Department of Social Services in Rochester, New York, as a social worker from 1970 to 1974. As her career progressed, Ms. Lipsky received a Master of Science in community service, with honors, from the University of Rochester in 1980. She then went on to excel as a counselor for the Alexander Women’s Group in Rochester from 1980 to 1986. Soon departing from the field of social work to pursue other professional interests, Ms. Lipsky became the owner of a children’s clothing shop, titled Tickled Pink, in Rochester. Opening the store in 1987, she remained affiliated with the business until her departure in 1993. Post-retirement, Ms. Lipsky has dedicated her spare time to supporting the creative arts. Since 2003, she has been an honorary member of the board of directors of the Rochester City Ballet, for whom she previously served on their board of directors as a member from 1997 to 2002 and as secretary from 2000 to 2001. Additionally, she is a member of DRAW (Douglas Road Artistic Women) and a former partner in MECA (Monday Evening Creative Arts), both since 2003. From 2017 to 2018, she also lent her time and expertise to Promises2kids in San Diego. Although her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Lipsky is especially proud of spending 20 years in Nepal, where she dedicated her time to the local adventure group. There, she photographed the first track adventure in Nepal to raise money for the Hospital Rehabilitation for Disabled Children, which provided successful surgeries for six children. To attest to her success, she was featured in the 24th edition of Who’s Who of American Women in 2004.
