342 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine TECHNOLOGY Leveraging a grand sense of curiosity from her childhood years, Janis L. Comstock-Jones desired to obtain knowledge and pass on that knowledge to others, particularly to women who were entering her same field of study. Supported by a Bachelor of Science from Rio Grande College and a Master of Science from Tiffin University, she underwent postgraduate coursework at Ohio University and the Columbus Technical College. Subsequent to earning her bachelor’s degree, Ms. Comstock-Jones served as a fiscal officer for the County Government of Columbus, Ohio, from 1979 to 1985. She then instructed at Columbus Technical College for one year, and excelled as a data processing coordinator, assistant director and director of information technology at the American Red Cross in Columbus for the following eight years. During this time, she notably served as a national instructor for the American Red Cross in Washington, D.C. Since 1995, Ms. Comstock-Jones has served as president of Gallifrey Enterprises, where she specializes in contingency planning and homeland security. Certified as a CAIX specialist by IBM, she has also lent her time civically to the Girl Scouts of the United States of America as a lifetime member, the United Way of Columbus as a fundraising chair, the Central Ohio Driving Association as president and the Standardbred-Pleasure Horse Organization as director. Named Employee of the Year by the ARC of Columbus, Ms. ComstockJones has aligned herself professionally with the International Association of Emergency Managers. In her spare time, she is a member of the U.S. Trotting Association, the Ohio Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association, and the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association. Especially proud of overcoming challenges as a woman in male-dominated fields, she attributes her success to her eye for detail, which allows her to see problems ahead of time. To attest to her success, Ms. Comstock-Jones has been highlighted in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the Midwest and Who’s Who of American Women.
