202 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine GOVERNMENT AND MILITARY Judith M. Heimann’s career in the U.S. Foreign Service spans 40 years, mostly at embassies and consulates on three continents. She also authored four nonfiction books. Her diplomatic career began in 1972 as one of the first “tandem” diplomats alongside her spouse, John Heimann. Before retiring in 1992 from the Senior Foreign Service, she was Consul General in Bordeaux, France. Her honors include the Department of State Award for Valor, for rescuing an American hostage held at gunpoint. A rehired annuitant, Ms. Heimann served parts of 2001-2011 as senior advisor to the political section at the U.S. Embassy to Belgium and worked 2001-2018 at the State Department, chiefly on political/ military subjects. Her book, “The Airmen and the Headhunters,” made into a PBS film, won the Hugo top prize for a historical subject. A BBC documentary narrated by David Attenborough came from her first book, “The Most Offending Soul Alive: Tom Harrisson and His Remarkable Life.” Her newest book, “Using Nature’s Shuttle,” is about the first GMOs. Her “Paying Calls in Shangri-La” was nominated for the American Academy of Diplomacy’s award for the best book on the art of diplomacy. U.S. DIPLOMAT (RETIRED), NONFICTION AUTHOR Washington, DC Retired from the United States Coast Guard Reserves since 2005, Christian-AndrewWethe possesses a career spanning nearly four decades in military service and civil engineering. Discharged as a commander, he formerly served active duty as a lieutenant in the Coast Guard between 1967 and 1971, and continued his military career working as a contingency planner in the Atlantic area in Portsmouth, Virginia. Mr. Wethe received a Multi-Service Medal from the Coast Guard in recognition of his achievements, and was recognized as a life member of the Reserve Officers Association in 1971. Alongside his military ventures, Mr. Wethe served as an environmental consultant with Wethe Engineering Associates, a research engineer at the University of Delaware College of Marine Studies, and a civil engineering instructor at Tufts University. Drawing upon a BS in engineering from Brown University, an MS in civil engineering from Tufts University and an MA in business management fromCentral Michigan University, Mr. Wethe is a registered professional engineer and has maintained affiliation with the American Society of Civil Engineers.
