340 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine SOCIAL SERVICES AND NONPROFIT Since 1997, Dr. Linda Redfield Shakoor has excelled as the program director for the Project Life War Orphans Rehabilitation Program of the World Life Institute in Waterport, New York. The World Life Institute is a 501(c)3 nonprofit humanitarian organization that fosters the human spirit through advanced education and awareness programs, as well as provides aid to war orphans and child survivors of war and disaster. Notably, the World Life Institute collaborates with local, national and international entities to provide effective solutions to contemporary problems. Drawing upon a BA from Malone University, an MS from the State University of NewYork at Albany and a PhD from the Niagara University Graduate School, Dr. Redfield Shakoor is a program consultant and lecturer for Global Nuclear Awareness. She has also taught English as a Second Language to U.S. agricultural workers for more than 40 years. As a testament to her success, she earned the 2017 Faith in Action Award from the Greater Rochester Community of Churches Faith in Action Network, the 2017 Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award, and the 2013 New York State Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award. PROGRAM DIRECTOR World Life Institute Waterport, NY With a natural affinity for uplifting others and bringing to them a sense of fulfillment through Jesus Christ, Larry Shropshire has served as the president of the Daily Bread Community Kitchen since 2015. Especially proud of sharing his religion with others to lead them toward better lives, he was initially handed the business from his father, Hobert Williams, who had owned and operated the Kitchen prior to Mr. Shropshire taking the helm. Previously, he served the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years and was a manager at Mills Processing for 32 years. Mr. Shropshire draws upon an associate degree in computer science, which he attained after serving in the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division from 1979 to 1982. For his success in the military, he received an Army Commendation Medal. Outside of his professional endeavors, Mr. Shropshire serves on the board of Gray Community Chess, has coached football and serves as an associate pastor at his local church. Looking toward the future, he intends to continue serving meals to the community and eventually open a shelter for the homeless population.
