80 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Dr. Gail L. Cramer grew up in an agricultural area in Washington State, and upon his exposure to the business side of agriculture, he decided to delve into the field. Matriculating in Washington State University, Pullman, he received a BS in 1963. From there, he attended Michigan State University in East Lansing, earning an MS in 1964. Subsequently, Dr. Cramer received a PhD in agricultural economics from Oregon State University, Corvallis, in 1968. At the inception of his career, Dr. Cramer served as an assistant professor at Montana State University, Bozeman, from 1967 to 1972 before being promoted to associate professor. Remaining an associate professor for four years, he was again promoted to full professor in 1976. Dr. Cramer remained at Montana State University as a full professor for a decade before relocating to the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, where he served as an L.C. Carter Professor from1987 to 2000. From2000 until attaining emeritus status in 2017, he was a full professor and department head at Louisiana State University. While serving the universities in Louisiana, Arkansas and Montana, Dr. Cramer notably established the Quality Grain Marketing and Policy programs, in which he determined the scope of the world food situation in 1974 and the impact of China on world food markets. Additionally, he analyzed world resources to support the world livestock populations. Dr. Cramer served as a visiting professor at Harvard University, the University of California Berkeley and The Ohio State University. Civically involved as well, he previously sat on the board of directors of the American Red Cross and the Kiwanis Club, both in Bozeman, Montana, and he maintained membership with the White House Agricultural Commission in Washington, D.C. He also lent his expertise to numerous articles to peerreviewed journals and was an editor and co-author of several texts. A fellow of the International Food and Agribusiness Management Association, Dr. Cramer received the Alumni Achievement Award from Washington State University in 2013, the Communication Award from the American Agricultural Economics Association in 1980, and several teaching awards from Montana State University.
