122 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Enthralled with teaching from a young age, Barbara Ann Little Stephens decided to delve into academia. She received a BA with honors from Earlham College, followed by an MS from Butler University. Throughout her career, she has been a secondary teacher in Indiana, Florida and Colorado, and served as head of the English department at Hallandale High School. From 1974 to 1976, she was a teacher in Hollywood, Florida. Concurrently, she was an adjunct professor at Nova Southeastern University from 1972 until her retirement in 2005. She also served as head of the English Department of Hollywood Hills High School from 1975 to 1978. Ms. Stephens has flourished as a facilitator for Covey’s Seven Habits of Highly Effective People since 1996 and has been a precinct committeewoman for the Republican Party of Pinellas County since 1998. She received the 1995 Outstanding Volunteer Award from the Republican Party of Pinellas County, the 1994 Silver Knight Teacher Award from the Miami Herald, and the 1985 Outstanding Christian Award. She has also accrued numerous Teacher of the Year awards. She was the co-founder of Christians for the Life Pregnancy Crisis Center from 1981 to 1997. ADJUNCT PROFESSOR (RETIRED) Nova Southeastern University Seminole, FL Hailing from a family of educators, Monica Ann Swope desired to become involved in the education sector. After receiving a BS in history from the University of Illinois in Chicago, she went on to serve Oak Park and River Forest High School as an educator, co-sponsor of the Minority Student Achievement Network, executive member of the African American Faculty Advisory Council (AAFAC) and coordinator of the AAFAC Mentor Program. During this time, Ms. Swope achieved an MEd from the University of Illinois and an MA in educational leadership and administration from Chicago State University. In the latter stages of her career, Ms. Swope served Chicago Public Schools as a social science specialist and instructional coach from 2008 to 2013. Since departing from the public school system, she has excelled as the founder and principal curriculum consultant for Learning Dimensions. Recently in 2020, she authored “Everyday Daredevil: Becoming a Risk Taker to Achieve What You Once Believed Was Unimaginable,” which is available on Amazon.com and in Barnes & Noble. She has earned several accolades from the Better Business Bureau and was named a SCORE American Small Business Champion in 2016.
