126 ENERGY, ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING A retired manufacturing company and private equity firm executive, William F. Andrews most recently served as the executive chairman of the Corrections Corporation of America in 2014. Accruing nearly 50 years of eminent experience within his field, he commenced his career in 1965 as a product manager for Scovill Manufacturing Company, and remained with the corporation for the following 21 years. During his tenure at Scovill, Mr. Andrews rose through the ranks to general manager, vice president, group vice president, president, chief executive officer and chairman. Subsequently, he joined the Singer Sewing Machine Company in 1986, where he served as chairman, president and chief executive officer, and Massey Investment Company, excelling as president and chief executive officer until 1990. In the latter stages of his career, Mr. Andrews was affiliated with the Amdura Corporation and UNR Industries as chief executive officer and chairman of their boards. He then served with Kohlberg & Company, where he was a principal and chairman of numerous companies between 1992 and 2014. Throughout his longstanding career, he has been especially proud to have worked his way through the ranks from a salesperson to becoming the chief executive officer of Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Andrews holds a BS in business administration from the University of Maryland and an MBA in marketing from Seton Hall University. He is a former captain of the United States Air Force, and has remained a board member of First Bank since 2017. Furthermore, he has lent his considerable expertise to such companies as Katy Industries, Inc., Allied Aerospace Industries, Inc., Northwestern Steel &Wire Company, the Utica Corporation and the Trex Company, Inc., among others. Civically engaged as well, he previously served as chairman of the Red Cross, Easter Seals, Cheekwood Botanical Gardens & Art Museum, Waterbury Chamber of Commerce and National Fluid Power Association. Mr. Andrews has accrued numerous accolades, including the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America and Significant Sig Award in 2000.
