20 MILLENNIUM F or more than 20 years, Nels Ackerson has practiced law and defended landowner rights, including in nationwide class action suits. Mr. Ackerson began his fruitful career in 1970 as an advisor for the Harvard Advisory Mission to the Republic of Colombia. With the knowledge he gained from that position, he became an associate at Barnes, Hickman, Pantzer & Boyd in 1971. After five years in that position, he implemented his leadership skills as chief counsel for the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on the Constitution, where he was an integral part in the passage of Title IX and subsequently was promoted to executive director. Not shying away from being a litigator and mediator, he made partner at several firms, including Campbell, Kyle & Proffitt; Sidley, Austin & Naguib in Cairo, where he opened his first American law firm; and Sommer Barnard Ackerson PC. Currently he serves as chairman of Class Corridor LLC and Ackerson Kauffman Fex, PC, which he has been affiliated with since 2001 and 2004, respectively. Mr. Ackerson is a member of the litigation section, the business and banking section, the international law section, and the administrative law section of the American Bar Association. He is also affiliated with the American Agricultural Law Association; the Center for National Policy; the National Policy Association’s food and agriculture committee; the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, of which he was president in 1984; and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He served on the board of editors of the Harvard Law Review from 1968 to 1971. His successful career is backed by a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University, as well as a Master of Arts in public policy and a Juris Doctor from Harvard University. He has been featured in Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the East, and Who’s Who in the Midwest.
